THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY
We’re passionate about linking local issues with international concerns, so in July 2014 we launched the Big Lottery funded ‘TuffCycle’ project to offer skills workshops and social opportunities at a Sheffield homeless shelter.
The project works with some of the guys at the shelter to design, create and market packaging and display units made from recycled materials. The products made are then used to help sell the crafts in our Ewamu project.
Through the TuffCycle project we aim to provide practical skills and valuable volunteer experience in the charity sector, promoting empowerment and community integration.
Following on from building packaging and display units, the TuffCycle project is continuing to develop and we are broadening its scope to include upcycling scrap material into interesting and unique furniture items. This project is still very new, but watch this space, there's more on its way soon!
